Match | 2019 Battle of the Bays Result
The annual Battle of the Bays between members of the Rowes Bay and Magnetic Island Golf Clubs has been run and won for another year. This year Rowes Bay successfully defended the trophy winning the event by 39 points with the final scores being Rowes Bay 683 and Magnetic Island 644.
The first leg of the home and away event was held at Rowes Bay on 28 April and after that leg, Rowes Bay held a lead of 44 points.
The second leg was held at Magnetic Island on 8 June and Magnetic Island won the day 352 points to 347, but their winning margin was not enough to overcome the first round deficit.
Notable scores over the two rounds from Rowes Bay members included Wayne Turner (75 points and winner of the Mark Massoni Memorial Trophy), Matt McCarthy 73 points and Ken Nelson and Dale Murray who both contributed 67 points.
Congratulations must be given to all of the Rowes Bay players who participated in this most enjoyable and sociable event. This year was the 25th year of the Battle and it is a testament to both clubs that there is nothing to suggest that the event won’t still be going in 25 years time.
